Match Report

Hyde v Michelmersh & Timsbury - 11 May 08

Hyde won the toss and put M & T in, on a fine, hot morning.  Hyde bowlers were in great form and M & T found runs hard to come by.  All the bowlers took wickets, while Patrick and Alfie picked up 3 each!  28 runs were scored but 10 wickets fell, and the batting side finished on 202.  Monty played extremely well as keeper, being new to the role and facing fierce fast bowling.  All in all the team worked hard in the field and gave themselves every chance to go on and win the match.

Hyde's opening pair started well with some determined hitting, but 2 good catches blunted their progress.  Later pairs faired better and soon a healthy total was building up.  Monty was undefeated on 13 while Jack (the Bonster) finished with an unbeaten 10.

Mr Extras featured heavily in both innings, and Hyde finished on 274 having lost 3 wickets.  This gives the team the maximum 15 league points from the fixture.

Well played all - Just got to keep the standard up for the next 10 matches now!

Thanks to all who assisted with scoring, making drinks and all the other task that make the team run smoothly!

I subsequently received the following message from Mark, the M&T manager:

I was extremely impressed by the ability, enthusiasm and sportsmanship of your U11 side and for the hospitality we received when we visited last weekend. I wish everybody at Hyde Cricket Club the best of luck for the rest of the season.

Well done all.
