Hyde v Fordingbridge - 18 May 08

Hyde won the toss and chose to bowl first on a bright but cool and breezy morning.   There followed a near-perfect bowling display for the full 16 overs of the match.  Only 1 no-ball was conceded and 2 wides - a truly impressive performance.  Fordingbridge found it hard to get bat on ball, with most of their runs coming from edges.  The fielding performance was strong, supporting the bowlers well, although there were a couple of dropped catches and a few too many overthrows given away.  However, this should be seen as a calculated risk taken as a result of the aggressive field placings and energetic enthusiasm of all the players.  Jack (the Bonster) finished with outstanding figures of 3 wickets for just a single run while Ozzie impressed with a very tidy spell of spin, adding variety to the attack.  A superb performance from everyone!  Fordingbridge finished their inning on 187 having lost 10 wickets.

The opening pair set off in fine style, making their intentions clear from the start!  Patrick hit a boundary off the first ball and continued to play a captains innings throughout, finishing with a net total of 25 runs.  Fordingbridge fielded well and put our batters under considerable pressure at times.  The middle order scored runs but also gave wickets away a bit too easily, but a respectable total was building and Hyde finished on a net score of 253 having lost 9 wickets.

Hyde won by 66 runs and claimed a maximum 15 points - again!

Well done boys - you all did yourselves proud.
