Match Report

Langley Manor A v Hyde  8 June 08

It was a bright sunny day when Hyde set off to play the first away match of the season.  The Hounsdown School pitch was memorable for a small boundary and long grass.

Put in to bat Langley Manor A made a shaky start and soon dropped below their starting score as wickets fell regularly.  Another great bowling performance with only a handful of extras given away.  Hugh T made the most of the artifictal wicket's bounce, taking 3 wickets, all caught and 1 c&b for only 8 runs.   The final pair managed to get the score back into positive territory finishing on 205 having lost 11 wickets.

Hyde equalled the home side's score after the first ball and set about building a big total.  Only 3 wickets fell on the way to healthy 283.  Most notable was the way we protected our wickets, losing only 3 in the innings.  Their bowlers only took a single wicket which is a huge credit to the Hyde batters.

The final result saw Hyde win by 77 runs and claim a maximum 15 points from the match.  We were top of the league before this match and should remain there.   However, we have a series of challenging matches starting with Redlynch and Hale next week.

Well done all and thanks to Dan for scoring again.
