My current workhorse is a 2001 Discovery TD5 van. It tows 3.5 tons, goes anywhere and is really quiet and comfortable. As I work from home my annual mileage is low. I am really impressed with this vehicle. Pop back later and I'll have some photos here later!
I had a 1994 Landrover Hi-Cap pickup as the company transport for Bickton Narrow Gauge. I drove it all over the country, pull ridiculous weights with it, take big loads and try to break it on the Welsh hills.
It is basically standard but has good wheels and tyres fitted. The load-bed is fitted with a winch for loading miniature traction engines or locos. The most important modification I have made is to fit a soundproofing kit from wrightoffroad. This has transformed the vehicle for long journeys. I cannot recommend it highly enough!
I also have a soft spot for Series I Landrovers so you could have a look at the Series I Owners Club - but that's absolutely all I'm going to do on Landrovers!
