Match Report
New Forest u11 Play-off - Hyde v Lymington.
20 July at Calmore CC.
Hyde lost the toss and were put in to bat first on a breezy and sunny morning, for the final game of the season. The opening pairs were restricted by some top class bowling, and with the exception of a remarkable boundary 6 from Paddy runs were hard to come by. The third pair batted well and the score edged up towards a what may have been a total that we could defend. Unfortunately, the last pair faced the return of the opening bowlers could not press on as they would have like to. The innings finished on 239.
Lymington batted steadily and accumulated runs. They certainly didn't have an easy time but in the end they were too good for us. They finished on 277 for the loss of 2 wickets.
The Hyde team were disappointed to have lost but took great pride in winning the Northern League and finishing runners-up in the New Forest as a whole. They collected their trophies with great pride and ended to season on a high.
Well done to all who played in the league matches this season. 17 players contributed to a great squad performance.
Thanks to all the many people who have contributed in so many ways to the success of this team.
